Thank you to all of our parents who took the time to complete the MRA Survey. We will be reviewing our results and using the data we gathered to continue making improvements at Roosevelt. Our Lighthouse Team is busy preparing for our Legacy visit in May. The team is excited about what this means to our school community. Roosevelt students are kind and hard-working. They are being nice to others and making progress toward the goals in their grade-level menus. Thank you for your participation as we continue the journey.

Counselor Appreciation

Roosevelt salutes our two awesome school counselors Charity Hall and Chelcie Gwartney. Mrs. Gwartney writes, "I am a school counselor because I want to help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. I spent nine years in the classroom as an elementary teacher. I could see the high need for social-emotional education which gave me the motivation to pursue a Master's degree in School Counseling. My husband Josh and I have been married for 12 years. We have 2 boys, Brett and Easton. We enjoy all things outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and baseball."

Mrs. Hall writes, "I have been an LPC since 2017. I became a counselor when I felt God calling me to help others in a way that they could share and work through their everyday struggles/emotions without judgment. I enjoy serving others and seeing individuals realize their potential. I love my family! I have been married to my husband Jay for 17 years and we have 3 amazing children. Jayden (13), Izzy (9), and Tilly (1). We love to spend time together and being outside."

ROOSEVELT ELEMENTARY 2024 TEACHER OF THE YEAR: Nikki Vanderford

Congratulations to 2nd Grade teacher, Nikki Vanderford, our Roosevelt Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Vanderford lives in Pryor with her husband of 18 years Rob, along with their two children and three pets.  She has taught for fifteen years with the majority of her time spent in the state of Kansas.  Three years ago, the Vanderfords had the opportunity to move back to Oklahoma, and that is when she began teaching at Roosevelt.  Ironically, she also completed her student teaching at the old Roosevelt building when she was completing her senior year at Northeastern State University.

5th Grade Nursing Home Visit

In February, our Roosevelt 5th graders put kindness into action. Our counselors, Mrs. Hall and Mrs. Gwartney, along with our music teacher Mrs. Rehbein, took our 5th graders to one of our local nursing homes to spread kindness to those in need. They passed out letters, cards, pictures they made, and the art other students at Roosevelt created. They also played and shared some songs they learned in music. It was such a great time for the residents as well as for the students and staff.
