The band made it to Bixby with a little help from Trevin Helmuth, our gold-star award winner of the weekend! When the band truck broke down in transit, Trevin—serving as both bus driver and pit-crew hero—jumped in and replaced the alternator on the spot. Thanks to his quick thinking, the Pride rolled on to the Bixby Tournament of Bands ready to perform!
“I’m very proud of my kids for another outstanding set of performances this past Saturday,” said Pryor Band Director Kevin Speakman.
The Pride of Pryor earned 3rd place in Class 5A during prelims and finished 6th overall in finals—out of 15 very talented bands, regardless of classification. As an added bonus, the Pride was voted the Fan Favorite of the entire competition!
“Our theme this year is Drive, and the kids are really getting into it,” Speakman shared. “I’m excited each week to see them grow in their performance!”
👏 A special shoutout to our incredible staff and parents—the behind-the-scenes heroes who make it all possible! Speakman noted, “Parents are a big part of our success! We have many parents helping move props, load and drive trucks, and so much more.”
Thank you to Wendy Kuhn, Collin Stout, Ashley Kerian, Becky Freeman, and Weston Griffin—the true geniuses who make it all happen.
