Roosevelt Elementary Tigers recently wrapped up a successful sock drive organized by the Student Leadership Lighthouse Team—a group of 21 third- through fifth-grade student leaders. In total, Roosevelt collected 1,247 pairs of socks to support foster families through a partnership with Fostering Mayes County.

These motivated students earned their leadership positions through an application and interview process and have continued to meet every challenge throughout the year. For the sock drive, the Lighthouse Team wrote and filmed a promotional video, prepared and decorated collection boxes for each classroom, and handled the final collecting, counting, and sorting of all donated socks.

“We are very proud of these kids!” said sponsor Delia Gietzen, speaking on behalf of herself, Mrs. McCollough, and Mrs. Rhine.
